Easy Bistro & Bar

Chattanooga, TN

The pandemic proved a perfect time for Easy Bistro to reimagine its future. Having identified a space in a retail corner of an existing parking garage in Chattanooga’s newest destination district, the West Village, the owners’ focus was creating an updated version of their classic restaurant around the addition of a wood-fired oven that would be located front and center with a raw bar and dining bar that provides diners with dinner and a show. With a history of and desire to continue hosting private events, the design used an existing wall as a natural separation between the main dining area and a space that could be closed off when needed. The back of house circulation plan allows direct service to the private space. The kitchen and storage spaces were redesigned to specifications that support the chef’s preferred preparation and flow.

The restaurant’s owners worked closely with the Tinker Ma Interiors team as well as Haskell Sears Design to create a cohesive interior design that feels both comfortable and upscale. The strategy was to reflect and honor the culture of the previous Easy Bistro, but not necessarily mimic it architecturally. We set forth to create a new, more casual and light space that not only incorporates the easy going, casual and approachable nature of the old school European bistros, but also more readily and visually celebrates the craft and artistry put into the creation of their iconic menu. The concept incorporated navy and white materials and finishes with hints of brushed brass. The renovation was completed in 2020.
