Oddstory Brewing

Chattanooga, TN

As part of an overall revitalization effort for the Martin Luther King, Jr., corridor, a local development company partnered with a local brewer to renovate an existing one-story, masonry building. Distinctly located between the Downtown Center, the new Innovation District and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus, the 4,000 sf micro-brewery was designed as a place for the community to come together over a beer.

The exterior design has an updated storefront of overhead glass garage doors and integral bar height countertop that provides seasonal patio seating in an urban setting. Custom fabricated steel plate canopies provide a departure from the masonry shell and protects the indoor/outdoor counter seating along the sidewalk.

The design divided the interior space to locate the tasting room in the front and brewery operation in the rear with a glass wall in between to allow patrons to view the brewing process as the enjoy the product. The tasting room design reflects a modern beer garden with a copper tasting bar, plywood community tables, leather couches and an integrated shelving system made of plywood and steel to provide storage for glasses, merchandise, plantings, art and games. New skylights provide daylighting and globe string lights add to the beer garden ambiance.

Haskel Sears Design and Construction, the general contractor and furniture fabricator, played an integral part of the interior finishes with the plywood and steel shelving, plywood tables, copper bar and barn wood finishes.
