South Outpost at The Keep

Rising Fawn, GA

Perched on the cliffside atop Lookout Mountain, The South Outpost Building at The Keep magnifies and respects the history and beauty of the landscape that it resides within. The design takes inspiration from traditional Appalachian construction techniques from the chimney forms to the charred wood siding found across the campus. After winding through the Bill Bergin and Rees Jones designed golf course, the traditional gable silhouette of the clubhouse is approached from below and slowly reveals and frames the breathtaking views of McLemore Cove between the earth below and a floating plane of earth above. With the inclusion of massive clear expanses and locally sourced stone, the Architecture exemplifies the intersection of contemporary building technology with the foundation of regional tradition. Currently in the Construction Administration phase, the project is scheduled for Fall 2024 completion.
