Erlanger Chapel
Chattanooga, TN
Part of a design competition to bring together art and architecture into a place of peace and reflection, we designed this project in collaboration with sculptor Isaac Duncan III.
The design intent of the Chapel is to capture the idea that the path to connection with the Divine is a journey. Rarely is it arrived upon suddenly, but is more often a process taking one further up and further in.
From the main hallway, the Chapel slowly emerges. Within a curved wall, a door beckons one to enter along a sweeping wall of illuminated panels. The elongated entry builds anticipation as to what may be found further within.
