Chattanooga Preparatory School
Original Classroom Building
Chattanooga, TN
This was the first facility for the new school, Chattanooga Preparatory. The renovation project combined two existing buildings that were formerly classrooms and a library for a college. The two buildings needed to be connected to facilitate students’ use. One building was four floors and the other building was three floors, and the floors of each were not at the same elevation. The major challenge was finding a way to link the buildings while still complying with codes and ADA regulations. The solution included sloped bridges and a two-sided elevator. In addition, one of the buildings had low floor-to-floor heights, and we added windows to increase the daylight and make the classrooms more comfortable and healthier for occupants.
