UTSI Infrastructure Systems Upgrades

Tinker Ma was pleased to be involved with the University of Tennessee Space Institute Upgrade Infrastructure Systems project, which included a wide variety of tasks.

We managed a series of infrastructure upgrades that included a campus-wide security system installation, additional site lighting, various paving and drainage repairs, installation of generators and re-roofing large portions of both the Main Academic Building and the Industry Student Center. These buildings were originally designed with either low or no-slope roof systems, but Tinker Ma has successfully designed new tapered insulation systems that provide for better positive drainage without making significant aesthetic modifications to the striking modernist buildings.

In addition to the infrastructure improvements across the campus, Tinker Ma designed a comprehensive interior renovation of the existing auditorium in the Main Academic Building. Work included new floor finishes, repair of the original plaster ceiling, new seating (including accessible seating locations), and new acoustic treatment.
