Tinker Ma was engaged to provide a geotechnical study and concept development for a cycling resort in Western North Carolina. The property possesses tremendous potential both in its physical site attributes and its established connection to the community.

The proposed development includes a lodge between 50 to 80 rooms that would particularly appeal to cyclists. Tinker Ma recommends amenities such as bike wash stations, bike lockers, bike repair stands and ample transient bike parking.

The lodge will also include significant outdoor event space such as an open-air pavilion with a lodge-type design and minimal enclosed spaces. A warming kitchen for catering may be added as a focal point that provides covered area for informal gatherings and organized events such as weddings, live music, and stage cycling races. The development plans also include an 80 to 120 seat restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. A portion of the restaurant space can be rented separately as private dining.  Kitchen plans account for catering needs for the hotel and adjacent event space. The hotel itself will be limited service with a beer garden and sundries thereby driving food sales to the restaurant.  The restaurant may include a grab-and-go section to capture cyclists who want something quick after a ride.
